Volunteering at Our Chalet, the oldest world center of the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts, offers the chance to work closely with other staff from different countries, to meet people from many different cultures, to take part in a variety of sports and recreational activities, to lead groups, to explore Switzerland, to learn new skills and much, much more!

We welcome applications from anyone who:

• is aged 18 or over,
• enjoys meeting and mixing with lots of new people,
• is practical and not afraid of hard work,

What does a volunteer do?

In the house

• Cooking and assisting with the cooking.
• Setting tables for meals and cleaning them after.
• Daily cleaning: trash collection. Recycling. Sweeping, moping and tiding common rooms, stairs, corridors, and bathrooms.
• Cleaning Bathrooms: restocking paper towel, soap and toilet papers.
• General cleaning: Sweeping, moping and tiding guest rooms, heating rooms, and laundry.
• Washing, drying, and ironing linen, curtains and carpets.
• Restock coca machine.
• Winter time: shovel snow.

Programs

• Evening programs such as campfire, craft, music, games, international events, etc
• Leading groups in excursions, city tours, hiking, etc
• Tour of the facilities.

Administration

• Shop: restocking of the shop items, open it as required, and inventory.

What does a volunteer get?

As a volunteer, you will receive free full board and lodging at Our Chalet during the time of your stay. We do not pay for travel costs, but we do give a small amount of pocket money whilst you are here – CHF100 per month towards program costs. You are entitled to 2 days off per week and these will be arranged to fit in with the rota of activities.
